About

Hi! I'm Daisy (she/her). I'm here to give you a culturally respectful space where you can comfortably process your grief without being judged. I'm passionate about creating a safe space for grieving BIPOC adults because grief is messy- it's emotional, physical, spiritual, and cultural. My practice is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, spiritually guided, and LGBTQ+ affirming. I believe BIPOC folks deserve a culturally and spiritually safe space to process their grief because I've had to do it myself as a young first-gen Latina. In my early 20's, I had neglected my grief for years and my life had become a mess. I had become very depressed and was living in a way that was incongruent to my values. I decided to try therapy out of sheer desperation despite my culture's stigma against it. In therapy, I was able to deeply process the tragic death of my special person and started living life in a way that was congruent with who I really am. I now honor my special person in a lot of what I do. If I was able to heal and finally get unstuck from traumatic grief, I know you can too. Together, we'll slow things down and do a lot of deep breathing and grounding to help your body feel calm again. We'll talk about how grief affects all parts of your life: your work, your sleep, your appetite, your concentration, your spirituality. We'll figure out where you're stuck in your grief, we'll practice coping skills to give you something to stand on, and then we'll process the stuck parts of your grief to get you back on your feet. I provide somatic EMDR therapy, the gold standard for trauma and PTSD, and have advanced EMDR training on traumatic grief. If your grief is showing up more as anxiety, then I'll thoroughly assess for OCD and thus provide a combination of EMDR for the traumatic parts of your grief and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard for OCD, for the anxious parts of your grief. I also incorporate parts work, meditation and mindfulness practices in our work together. Lastly, I'm a certified Acudetox Specialist and provide ear acupuncture for immediate nervous system regulation. I am bilingual (Spanish) and bi-cultural (Mexican-American). When I'm not seeing clients, you can find me cooking, taking walks, or biking around town with my kids. I also really value travel, spiritual growth, and spending time outside of my comfort zone. I served in the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Senegal from 2010-2013 and absolutely loved my service. I also speak French! (Although it's a bit rusty these days.) I have been treating complicated and traumatic grief over the past 13 years and it has a very special place in my heart. I have worked with grieving clients from many different cultures and religions and used to work at a local grief center for children and their families. I look forward to and consider it an honor to work with you and your grief :)
