About

Grief is Messy

Hi! I'm Daisy (she/her/ella). I'm here to give you a respectful space where you can comfortably process your grief without being judged. I'm passionate about creating an accepting space because grief is messy- it's emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, AND cultural. My practice is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, spiritually guided, and LGBTQ+ affirming. I believe BIPOC folks deserve a culturally and spiritually safe space to process their grief because I've had to do it myself. In my early 20's, I had neglected my grief for years and my life had become a mess. I had become very depressed and was living in a way that was incongruent to my values. I decided to try therapy out of sheer desperation despite my culture's stigma against it. I had difficulty bringing all aspects of my grief to therapy because the death I was grieving was particularly tragic and traumatic, and I worried I'd be judged. If I was able to heal and get unstuck, I know you can too. Together, we'll slow things down to help your body feel calm again. We'll talk about how grief affects all parts of your life: your work, your sleep, your appetite, your concentration, your spirituality. We'll figure out where you're stuck in your grief, we'll practice coping skills to give you something to stand on, and we'll process the stuck parts of your grief to get you back on your feet. I provide somatic EMDR therapy, the gold standard for trauma and PTSD, and have advanced training for traumatic grief. If your grief is showing up more as anxiety about the future, then we'll do Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard for OCD, to help you come out of the mental worry looping. I also incorporate parts work, meditation, and mindfulness. Lastly, I'm a certified Acudetox Specialist and provide ear acupuncture for immediate nervous system regulation. I am bilingual (Spanish) and bi-cultural (Mexican-American). When I'm not seeing clients, you can find me cooking, taking walks, or biking around town with my kids. I served in the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Senegal from 2010-2013 and absolutely loved my service. I also speak French! I have been treating complicated grief for 10+ years and it has a very special place in my heart. I have worked with grieving clients from different cultures and religions and used to work at a local grief center running groups for children and their families. I look forward to working with you!
